What Is the Most Expensive Spice in the World?

March 22, 2020 by Karen Hill

Spices are much cheaper today than they were centuries ago, but some spices are still quite costly.

The most expensive spice of all is a certain kind of saffron, which sells for over $800 a pound! It takes about 32,000 saffron flowers to make just one pound of saffron.

The cheapest spices in the world, Canadian mustard and Portuguese rosemary, both sell for under ten cents a pound.
