Also called a nor’easter, a northeaster type of winter storm blows into North America from the northeast and brings strong winds and precipitation to New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.
They occur most often between September and April.
A Northeaster is usually described as a low pressure area whose center of rotation is just off the East Coast, and can cause coastal flooding, coastal erosion, hurricane force winds, and heavy snow.
