Are Our Days Really Getting Longer?

Yes, to a very small extent. As the earth rotates on its axis, it wobbles a little because the moon pulls it. This pull is so slight, however, that you cannot feel it, just as you cannot feel the earth rotating.

The amount of change in the day’s length will not affect our lives too much. Scientists estimate that a day lengthens only by one second every 100,000 years.
