What Is the Lowest Point In the United States?

July 23, 2020 by Karen Hill

At 282 feet (85 m) below sea level, the lowest point in the United States is Bad Water, in Death Valley, California.

At Badwater, significant rainstorms flood the valley bottom periodically, covering the salt pan with a thin sheet of standing water.

The sign marking “sea level” on the cliff above Badwater is a popular site for tourists.
