Where Are the Best Places In the United States For Producing Wind Energy?

Places that have an average annual wind speed of at least 13 miles (21 km) per hour are best for producing wind energy.

These can be found along the East Coast, the Appalachian Mountains, the Great Plains, the Pacific Northwest, and a few other locations in the United States.

North Dakota is a prime location for wind power, that state has enough wind to supply 36 percent of the electricity used in the 48 conterminous states.

But getting all that electricity from North Dakota to other states is the difficult part.
