With the rise of Christianity, the church decided that death days were the real birthdays because the deceased was being reborn in paradise.
And so the date of a person’s demise was recorded as their birth, or rebirth, day.
The birthdays of saints are celebrated on their death days.
It was through this logic that Christ’s death day, or Easter, became more important than Christmas.
