Although it is the largest country in South America, Brazil was colonized by Portugal, not Spain.
Most of its people speak Portuguese, not Spanish. The languages are similar enough that a Spanish-speaker can sometimes manage a conversation with a Portuguese-speaker, but they are not the same.
On the other hand, Brazilians are Latin Americans, because they come from a country south of the United States that speaks a Latin-based language. In that sense, you could call a Brazilian a Latino, but not a Hispanic.
