March 22, 2020 by Karen Hill

The Sun measures 865,000 miles, or 1,392,000 km in diameter, or about 109 times that of Earth.

It would take more than 1.3 million planets the size of Earth to fill the Sun.

On a scale, the Sun would weigh almost 333,000 times more than Earth.

Its mass is about 2 × 10^30 kilograms.

The mass of the Sun accounts for about 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System. In other words, it’s gigantic.

The mean distance of the Sun from the Earth is approximately 149.6 million kilometers.
