Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the United States, and in the world as well.
It covers an area of 31,800 square miles (82,680 sq km).
Lake Superior holds about 2,900 cubic miles, or 12,000 cubic kilometers.
It is the northernmost of the Great Lakes and touches Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan as well as the Canadian province of Ontario.
