An activist belonging to the American Indian Movement, Leonard Peltier was convicted in 1976 of murdering two FBI agents on South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.
Many people around the world believe that Peltier is innocent. Seeing him as a political prisoner of the U.S. government, Peltier’s supporters have spent more than 20 years campaigning for his case to be reexamined.
