Because of the danger and precision of their labour, the government didn’t want these men, who earned fifty cents an hour, to be distracted by the consequences of gambling.
In 1931, the state of Nevada legalized gambling everywhere except for Boulder City.
To this day, Boulder City is gambling free.
The Hoover Dam is 726 feet tall and 660 feet thick at its base.
Enough rock was excavated in its construction to build the Great Wall of China.
