In Chinese mythology, the Chinese goddess Nu Gua created the first people.
After the creation of the world, the goddess Nu Gua lived on earth, lonely and sad.
One day, after glimpsing her reflection in a pool, she had an idea. She scooped up a handful of yellow mud and molded a copy of herself.
She worked long and hard, creating a small number of people and breathed life into them.
To work more quickly, she dragged a cord through mud and flicked pieces of earth onto the ground.
These pieces sprang up as humans. They wandered off and settled in the hills and fields.
Although she rarely saw her people, Nu Gua often heard their voices and never felt lonely again.
