May 27, 2020 by Karen Hill

Yes, more people live in North America than in South America.

About 345 million people lived in South America in 2000.

North America’s population, including Central America and the Caribbean, was more than 408 million people.

All of South America lies east of the North American city of Savannah, Georgia.

South America, the fourth largest continent, is home to 6 percent of the world’s population and accounts for 12 percent of its land area.

The tropical rain forest in the Amazon River Basin is the largest in the world.
