Today, Sunday school is a place where young people learn about their religion after they attend church on Sunday. But it didn’t begin like that.
The first Sunday school was opened in 1780, in the poor section of Gloucester, England, to teach children reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Sunday was the only day these children could go to school, because most of them worked on the other six days!
