Goats don’t eat anything and everything, but they are certainly not picky.
Goats are browsing animals, not grazers like cattle and sheep, and love to sample things, even tin cans and cardboard boxes.
They prefer to eat shrubbery and weeds, more than grasses, unlike sheep.
Alfalfa is their favorite hay, but mold in a goat’s feed can make it sick and even kill it, and they should not be fed grass with any signs of mold.
Despite their reputation, goats are not walking garbage cans.
They like yummy things, like the rest of us, and wouldn’t dream of eating any dirty or rotten food.
They do, however, have very sensitive lips that they use to check things out.
Short a pair of hands, when a goat happens upon something new, it will often feel a little with its lips to see what it’s all about, resulting in the myth that they’ll “eat anything.”
