Though originally, fifteenth century and later, this denoted a cake or pie of light pastry containing cheese, the custard-like preparation used as filling by today’s good cooks may or may not include cheese in the composition.

But the modern product is delicious.

And because it also delights the eye, users of American slang have applied the term, in recent years, to photographs featuring attractive feminine legs.
