Who invented the screwdriver to bolt plates of armor together for knights in the Middle Ages?

March 26, 2020 by Karen Hill

No one knows exactly who invented the screwdriver.

But it was most likely some poor squire, sick and tired of trying to figure out a way to tighten a knight into his armor with just his fingertips, or while searching through the grass for that dropped and missing bolt.

But we do know the screwdriver was invented to bolt plates of armor around a knight.

So thank your squire for this glorious invention whenever you screw something together to lose a screw in the process.
