The Titius–Bode law, also known as Bode’s law, is a hypothesis that the bodies in some orbital systems, including the Solar System, orbit at semi-major axes in an exponential function of planetary sequence.
Johann Bode published Johann Titius’s planetary spacing equation in 1772 8 years after Titius worked it out, as his own.
It was known as Bode’s law until Bode admitted his plagiarism in 1826, when it became known as the Titius-Bode law.
There is no solid theoretical explanation for the Titius–Bode law.
It is probably a combination of orbital resonance and shortage of degrees of freedom, therefore any stable planetary system has a high probability of satisfying a Titius–Bode-type relationship.
