Most Black Power supporters rejected the old civil rights strategies.
They suggested a new strategy based on black control of the schools, stores, and other institutions in the black community. Some urged creation of separate black political parties.
Others felt there should be a separate black state. But the main idea was to achieve black pride, black dignity, and black self-determination.
