Pepper can be either green or red. You can eat peppers raw in salads, or you can cook them.
When this marvelous fruit is picked early, it is a beautiful shade of green. If the farmer lets the pepper stay on the vine for a longer time, it turns red. A red pepper isn’t at all hot. It is sweet. In fact, it is much sweeter red than green.
Most people who cook red peppers make them into a wonderful relish that tastes great on hamburgers and other meats. Most common peppers are about the size of an apple, but Italian peppers are smaller and are shaped like a carrot.
The Italian peppers are sometimes called fryers because they taste great when they are fried.
