Hitler’s plan for England if Germany’s invasion plans were successful was pretty much the same as every other country that the Nazis conquered: Kill the intelligentsia and enslave the rest.
For example, when the Nazis took over Poland, they quickly liquidated more than half of Poland’s college graduates.
In Orders Concerning the Organization and Function of Military Government in England, a plan drawn up in 1940, the German government included a list of celebrated British writers and thinkers who were to be tracked down and killed immediately.
The list included Bertrand Russell, H. G. Wells, J. B. Priestley, C. P. Snow, and Noel Coward.
Meanwhile, large numbers of British men between the ages of 17 and 45 were to be shipped to Germany for slave labor.
